The reveal of the Top Bunk Makeover is finally here. I made a plan of what I had visioned the space to look like. If you want to refresh your memory about my overall plan for the top bunk then you can check that out here – The Top Bunk Makeover Plan. There were a few changes along the way like not showing the spice racks or the toy trunk.
I was thinking about it and it doesn’t really go with the top bunk part of this makeover it more targets towards to lower bunk so I am going to save that reveal for when it is that time.
Overall I love the finished result of the top bunk. As I finished some projects, my little sister got to see it. It was like little gifts leading up to the grand reveal for her. Every time I share something she was happy and thankful that I had done it for her. It was an Awww moment for sure. Let me give you the reveal tour.

Let me give you the reveal tour.
My little sister’s top bunk was very cluttered as well as what you would expect from a typical top bunk. You got your rails (to keep you from falling off the bed), pillow (to sleep on) and blanket (to keep warm). Hers was a tad bit different with the extra amount of pillows but you got the point.
Not much you can do up there and defiantly not a lot of storage or anything to really make it her own. Blankets and pillows are fine but customization to fit personality is so beyond awesome.

Making the Bunk Bed Comfortable
First thing first, I finally got rid of the pillows that were on the rail and upcycled them into Bunk Bed Cozies. My sister now gets stylish crib bumper style cozy pillows without it taking away from her view from her bed. Such a great way to recycle old pillows or flatten pillows of yours.
I was going to buy the duvet and pillow set from Ikea but really loved how everything looked with the sheets that were on the bed already. Everything seemed to work this way. Sometimes you don’t have to buy everything new. If you change a few things around then space can still look new. Does that make sense? It did in my head.
All I mean to say, you can make old sheets or blankets new by just changing the space around it.
Bunk Bed Desk
Onto the biggest and best part of this bunk, bed makeover is the desk area. I showed you How to Make a Bunk Bed Desk yesterday but now you get to see how it all looks with everything put together. Here it is before picture of just the desk I put up…
Here it is after!
Upcycling for Organization
Remember these Upcycle Pencil Holders that I made from Gerber Puff Cans? Look at them now, holding everything from pencil crayons, crayons, paints, and markers. Perfect for a little artist.

Final Thoughts
My little sister love, love, loves her bunk bed makeover. She was defiantly surprised when she came home from school and saw the desk. I was hugged to death and she even hugged my son too lol. I don’t think she knew what to do with all that happiness and excitement. One thing I know for sure, I did not see her until dinner time. She was too busy enjoying her new bunk bed. So happy she enjoyed her new space.
What a creative use of space! No wonder your sister is in love with it!
Thank you Lisa 🙂
As a child who loved drawing and creating things (stuck on the top bunk, sleeping with sketch books and pens near my pillow), I would have LOVED a creative space like this! What a lovely surprise to give your little sis! Absolutely beautiful.
