The Most Used IKEA Hacks That Boost My Home

Sometimes we just have to go down memory lane. I thought I would share with you the most used IKEA hacks that boost my home in the past years. These are fantastic projects that I got to create and make my own or that just simply transformed my home in the most incredible ways. If you have been following my site for a while then you know my love for IKEA and if you are new, you will quickly learn my love of IKEA products.

Living Room

For my living room, the largest change was the entertainment centre. I added this BRIMNES set because what we had before just was not working for us. With so many of us in the house (six to be exact) our only goal was to have more storage for all of our things but in a more organized way. I personally love the fact there are drawers to hide some stuff after all not everyone needs to see everything.

Another project I did was this a simple change of paint for the LACK table. It only took me a short amount of time to transfer paint from a red table to a navy blue table. Not many people think about changing the colour of an item which works in my favour because I get some great deals just because people don’t like the colour.

Kitchen

The kitchen is the food hub but for our home, the kitchen just wasn’t working in the cabinet department. So, I had to think on my feet and decided to transform a closet wardrobe from IKEA into a kitchen pantry. Yes, you heard that correctly. I couldn’t find what I was looking for online in the actual pantry department so why not IKEA hack it. It was such a fun project to put together and organize.

Entryway

My entryway is where the big change happened. We took an area that was filled with shoe issues which basically means that we have a done of shoes because there is a ton of us living in here but found solutions to really help us. I have to say that investing in shoe cabinets are so worth the money. I love the fact that the shoes are hidden but also you can make it your own with simple IKEA hack solutions such as changing the colour with spray paint or adding knobs.

Bedroom

For my bedroom, it is a small space so using a slim IKEA dresser and making it my own with spray painting the knobs really added a great touch to my closet. Not to mention it is an excellent way to divide my closet in half compared to having it all unsorted.

One of my favourite projects would have to be the one where I took the spice racks from IKEA and created a tv stand with it. It was the easiest way to have my tv have its own entertainment centre on my dresser plus it also gave it a more eye-pleasing environment. Add some spray paint and I was hook so I made another one for my mom’s bedroom.

Kids Room

Let’s talk about the kid’s rooms in my apartment. I have to say I created some fun IKEA hacks for their bedrooms that we fun to make. What can I say, it was just as functional as they needed and came in just as I imaged. I love the bunk bed loft desk that I created for my sister when she used to sleep on the top bunk of her bunk bed. This was a space just for her to be able to work on her drawings with ease.

Sometimes you have to think outside of the box. I bought this storage bookcase from IKEA so that my sister could transform it into a barbie house. She loves creating everything so I thought why not give her a blank slate for her creativity could go while.

Kids Side of My Bedroom

Creating an under the bed storage solution was a must! Using drawers meant to be in wardrobe and sliding it under my bed made perfect under the bed storage for all the extra diapers I had for when my son was a baby. Nowadays it holds more than diapers such as camera equipment and all my tools.

One of my earlier IKEA hack projects was transforming a bookcase into a wardrobe for my son who was a baby at the time. Looking back I guess I like a different approach to things and loved the idea open concept. After all, baby clothing is so cute! This was the perfect solution for my baby clothes problem.

Now that my son is a little man and not a baby anymore, I had to change some things up. Which means my bedroom needed a makeover because we still have to share the same bedroom. So, I was given my sister’s IKEA old bunk bed, gave it a facelift with some white paint, removed the bottom bunk and rearranged the bottom to create a closet and play area for that fit my son for his age now. This also works as a private area for my bed as well. Win, win in my books!

Final Thoughts

IKEA is my best friend (don’t tell my best friend that), their products have helped me in more ways than one and believe me, we just went through it so you know what I am talking about. They are affordable for my family budget and I love the fact that I can get creative with it. So regardless of the building (which I think I am the only one in the world who enjoys building them), I will keep going back to them every time. I mean, after all, I know that I am not the only one IKEA hacking out there.
