I love sharing sneak peaks to my latest projects before the big reveal like I did for the awesome family charge station I created but wait no longer because it is finally time and I can’t wait for you to see it the reveal of this living room bookcase.
Of course, you have to see the before to truly understand and appreciate why I had this as number one on my spring cleaning list. Let me set the scene for you. The living room bookshelf is right near the door so everyone and the mailman can see this bookshelf when they arrive. Having it near the door causes a dumping spot reaction for everyone and as a result, it ends up looking like this.
Before
With the plan that I cooked up and some deep cleaning, garbage bags, donation bags and so much more, I fixed these bookcases to look its best. The key to cleaning for me is my music playlist blasting! Thank you music!
After
What a difference right?
I really tried to stick to my plan as much as possible. Sometimes it doesn’t always work out as plan but at least is it close enough to the original plan.
One thing that really delayed this project was the greenery for the top of the bookshelves. I was waiting for a sale that never came so had to compromise and buy these from Dollarama which so happened to end up being a lot cheaper. I will share this how to project in the upcoming week.
I wanted these bookcases to flow and have balance. Each shelf served a purpose.
Second Bookshelf
The second bookcase top shelf has all the office supplies and more.
Storage boxes are one of my favorite go-to for organizing because you can organize and hide anything. Plus is is nice that these are stylish and affordable.
The wooden box in the middle is for our batteries, extra chargers and battery chargers. This cute box was bought at Michaels Craft Store on sale.
Now doesn’t this look familiar, I created this very simple charge station for our family’s devices. If you would like to see how I created this you can check out this post right here.
Games
All those games that look to be on the edge of falling had now been relocated to the large decor boxes at the bottom of the bookshelf. This way it is very accessible for the kids and also hidden in case we have unexpected guests.
This trunk is definitely this bookcase’s treasure with another fun way to add storage.
Final Thoughts
Overall, these bookcases have taken a huge makeover and is well organized compared to the before. I have fun fixing this up and can officially check it off my spring cleaning list. I hope it stays clean!
I hope you have some time, I would love to hear from you. Leave a comment to say how much you enjoyed my post or even say hi, follow me on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, Instagram page or even subscribe. I will do the same! Have a wonderfully creative week!
