My shared bedroom makeover reveal is not complete until we talk about my side of the bedroom. Last time we talked about how I gave my son his own side of our bedroom with a bunk bed and a lot of storage. However, today I wanted to talk about my side of the bedroom. Not too many things drastically changed on my side but it is a whole lot cozier.
Before
This bedroom design I came up with for this before photo, worked for me and my son at that time. I kept playing with my side until I found the right fit. This was it. Now, however, I am needing more. Which is completely fine. I don’t mind a little bit more construction on my place in order to make it work for this year. It has done well for two years.
I removed the nightstand shelf. I never really used it. It held an autograph n fake flowers. There were magazines collecting dust and my laundry hampers other than that this space wasn’t needed therefore I moved my bed all the way to the window.

Shared Bedroom Divider
My side now has privacy. I added a room divider. That is a must. It is actually closet doors I found at IKEA as-is section. I was hoping to go for panel door but these were $20 and I had grown quite fond of them. The darker wood matches the dresser that I gave to my son.
With all the white accessories and lighter furniture. I figured I could live with this one wall of brown. As of now. I have the divider between my bed and the bunk bed. I did not want to wake up and look at toys so this was better for me.
Right now if I need to access anything under my bed all I have to do is slide the room divider.
What I love about this is that it looks like a feature wall or a luxury hotel when everything is put together. I switched out my beach photo to city photos.
City Photo Frames
There is a funny story about these city pictures. I bought them at value village. Their price is $10 each. To me, it’s perfect. The customer behind me tells me that they overpriced it’s from Dollarama for $4. To me, I can’t prove that so I am saying it’s okay. Until the cashier looks at the back when I already paid and the sticker was right there. So after some waiting from managers, I got my pictures even cheaper. 2.50 each. Win!
New Curtains
My window area finally has new curtains. It took me years to find the right colour and the right length. Curtains are crazy expensive and I wasn’t having it so I waiting for years to find these ones. I found them at a store randomly when I was on my staycation a year ago. It cost only $5.00 so I bought one. Little did I know that the package only has one panel in it. It was such as sad moment. Everywhere online it costs $30.00. Crazy! This year my family went back and surprisingly the same colour was still there at the same price. Can’t believe it but it looks so perfect with my bedroom.
Soft and Cuddly
When you find the right throw blanket, you know. I for one love mine. I bought mine at Dayroom for $11.99. It is the right size to hug you. Perfect for hanging out and watching a movie or TV in it. It is ultra soft to the point my mom and aunt is dying to know where I bought it. However, this is my secret that I am ready to share with you.
I also bought this tribal rug from them as well. It was the rug’s print that made me want to have it. I won’t lie, I thought this was bigger. So, when I saw this tiny rug, I was shocked. Which teaches me a valuable lesson which is to never rely on a photo when it comes to ordering a rug. Always look at the measurements.
New Dresser
Lastly, I added a new dresser that I bought from IKEA it matches the one that I bought for my closet. The BRIMNES series is my personal favourite. I gave my KULLEN 5 drawer dresser to my son who desperately needed this own dresser that isn’t cloth drawers. He is a big boy now and deserves a big boy drawer. Plus, I needed deeper drawers for my clothing.
Final Thoughts
Between the room divider and the new picture it really makes this space feel cozy. The only thing I miss is having my desk right beside my bed. It was my place to rest drinks. Other than that I love the way my shared bedroom turned out. Little things around one side of a bedroom truly make a difference. It took a little adjusting to get used to but can’t stop staring.
