One of A Kind Crate Review

Let’s talk One of a Kind. Don’t you just love creating things? As you can tell I am a lover of getting my hands dirty with stain or paint or just sticky with glue. Sounds like a little bit of a mess but that’s just because to me it is relaxing and refreshing. It brings me great joy to bring something to life. It goes from an idea to an something I can showcase. What if I told you that crafts could come to your door? Would you not consider hugging your mailman just a second. I know I would!

What do crafts and do it yourself projects mean to you? I wonder if we have similar views on this. For me, I also enjoy that I can say “Hey I built that!” and give myself a little pat on the back when it is all done and finished. That’s just my view on it at least.  I came across a company that pretty much sends DIY projects straight to your door. They are called One of a Kind. I thought that I would share my experience with you only because I actually really enjoyed myself with this company. I only share what I love and I have always stood by that. This article is no different.

So, that is what I am going to do today. I want to show you what I am excited about. I choose from the One of a Kind website a cool geometric shelf. Honestly, I tend to pick things that are in my comfort zone and don’t usually pick outside of it. It was a mean tug of war between the shelf and the planter boxes they have. However, I chose the geometric shelf, mainly because of the blue color. I love, love, LOVE blue so I was a tab bit bought into this one from the getgo.

What’s in the box?

This company has thought about everything. In my box is sandpaper, foam brush, paint brush, glue and wood pieces for the shelf. I will be honest by saying that I thought there may have stain and paint in the box but if you are crafty you should already have that. If you are new to crafting then you are going to have to go to your local craft store and get yourself some paint or stain. That is the only downside to this product.

Once you open the box you get this cute little instructions card that tells you what you need to do with photos and words.

Glue Time

Dry Time

One of a Kind suggests: make sure that you have a workspace that you can have this project side for a couple of hours to let dry. If you have a craft room then it is not a huge concern. For me, I don’t have that kind of space with a little small bedroom shared with my son. However, even if you don’t have the space or that you have a little child then gets their hands in everything. You still can do this project, you just have to be a little creative with it. I did mine when my son was sleeping so that he wouldn’t touch it.

Finishing Touches

Once dry I sanded off the edges and start to paint or stain. I choose to keep mine raw. It was too cold for me to go out on the balcony to spray paint which I personally want to do over painting or staining. I am a spray paint girl through and through. But that won’t stop me from using the shelf. I will definitely share my shelf makeover once it gets a little warmer. Until then I have a plan on what I will use my shelf for and since its a small shelf. I can only think about using it for my essential oils!

Final Words

Like I mentioned before, the only real downside to this is that this box wasn’t provided with any stain or paint or even a little can of spray paint. It would have been nice especially for those who aren’t too crafty. Overall, I still love One of a Kind and the idea of getting small projects delivered to your door. I love sharing things that I love. Been doing that for four years now. I like to think about it like this, why not tell a friend or family member about things, companies and products that you love. There is no catch. I am simply sharing this because I genuinely love it and I think you may too. See, simple!
