Your own quiet getaway

Let’s start with the simplest idea, shall we? It is true that, sometimes, as a parent, you need a quiet place where you can just sit back and enjoy peace and silence without any voices or electronics getting in the way. And the attic is the best possible place for it. If you are blessed with a well-illuminated attic with good windows, paint it all-white (or any light and calm color) and fill it with comfy furniture such as bean bags, massaging lounges and maybe even a hammock. Finally, spread a few books, magazines or musical instruments around the place with a few houseplants here and there and your quiet room is finished.

Walk-in closet

We all know the biggest struggle of them all: having nothing to wear while at the same time having no space to put all that nothing in. How to settle this, you may ask. Well, you can consider repurposing your attic into a giant walk-in closet for the entire family. This is also a great option because it requires a lot less work than building a regular walk-in closet. There is almost zero construction to do. Simply, just cover your walls with OSB, install a few shelves and spice it all up with a little bit of appearance lighting. Also, you can increase the luxurious vibe by adding a mannequin, a mirror, a fancy rug and some furniture.

Children room

Attics with short ceilings are a great option for children rooms. And don’t worry, it requires a lot less work than you might think, of course, if you plan it correctly.

First of all, make sure that your attic is perfectly sturdy and safe from dangerous minerals like asbestos, for example. Aussies often rely on companies for asbestos removal in Sydney to make sure their attics are completely safe. When this part is done, that’s when all the fun begins. You can make the most out of those short walls by installing a few short closets that line the place nicely. Next, cover the floors with a carpet to soundproof the room and make it a lot warmer. Finally, make sure there’s enough space in the center of the room so your kids can play there, and the new sleepover heaven is complete.

Home theater

If your living room is small and cannot fit your entire family on movie nights, you have a great solution right above your head. Install a couple of storage units where you can keep your CDs, video games, and consoles. Finally, add a large, comfy sofa and a big screen TV and complete it all with a small fridge for storing drinks.

P.S. You can increase the “movie” experience by adding a popcorn maker as well.

Playroom

Let’s face it, we all love to play. Whether it’s ping pong, pool or some other table sport, you can now play it in your own home. If you have an attic that is large enough, you can also add a lounge area around or beside the playroom area.

As you can see, all you need is a little bit of imagination, and you can do some wonderful things.
