Top Tips for Enjoying Your First Niagara Falls Comic Con

This year my family decided we would go to Niagara Falls Comic Con! It is something we wanted to check out so I figured if we go, we have to have the full experience. Yes, I am talking about cosplay and all! Comic Con is not just for die-hard comic books or movie fans, there is something for everyone. So, if you want a cool experience unlike anything you have seen before, you have to check out Niagara Falls Comic Con.

What is Niagara Falls Comic Con?

Niagara Falls Comic Con is an event unlike anything else and perfect for fans of all ages. It unites fans of comics, movies, TV shows, video games, and more in one place. Imagine being able to meet your favourite celebrities, discover unique merchandise, and see amazing cosplay outfits.

Of course, you can also attend panels and workshops as well. Explore the wide range of panels and workshops where you can hear from industry professionals and learn new skills. From comic book artists sharing their creative process to special effects experts, you get a behind-the-scenes experience you will love.

Celebrity Sightings & Autographs

How often do you get a chance to meet or see celebrities from your favourite shows and movies? Now you can! If you don’t mind the line or the price, you can get autographs or even snag a photo with one of your favourite TV or movie stars. The website will provide you with a list of who is currently at this year’s event. I was excited to hear that a few cast members from the show Boy Meets World were attending.

Creative Cosplay Outfits

One thing that is legendary about Niagara Falls Comic Con is the amount of cosplay outfits you will see from a variety of entertainment. If you are new to this, cosplay is short for “costume play,” where fans dress up as their favourite characters from comics, movies, TV shows, and video games. It is incredible to walk through the convention center to see everything from detailed costumes to simple creative outfits. The dedication and creativity of the fans are just out of this world.

Unique Shopping Finds

If you want it, you can find it. There is plenty to discover and find at the Niagara Falls Comic Con. I was blown away by the unique merchandise and collectibles. There was something for everyone, as the venue was filled with booths selling rare comic books, custom artwork and handmade faux swords. It’s the perfect place to find a one-of-a-kind souvenir. Plus, you may find vendors that offer exclusive items available only at the convention so it is definitely worth shopping around.

Tips for First-Time Attendees Comic Con Niagara Falls

If this is your first time attending Niagara Falls Comic Con, then take some notes! Here are a few tips to help you ahead of time:

• Plan Ahead: Check the schedule in advance and prioritize any events you want to attend. Also, check out the map so you know where you are going ahead of time.
• Make sure your Comfortable: Wear comfortable shoes especially if you are bringing your kids. There are not many places to sit so you will be on your feet walking around the majority of the time. Also, consider bringing a sweater as the temperature can vary inside the convention center.
• Bring Essentials: Bring a bag of essentials like water, snacks, a phone charger, and a small notebook for autographs. If you stay ready, you avoid having to spend extra on things you can bring.
• Respect Cosplayers: As a reminder you always have to ask for permission before taking photos of cosplayers. Most of the time they don’t mind so ask first.

My Personal Comic Con Experience

Since this was my first time at Niagara Falls Comic Con, I will be honest, I was a little nervous about wearing my cosplay outfit, however, after seeing others in their outfits I felt much more comfortable. Which made the entire event awesome! My husband, son and I dressed as three characters from One Piece (Luffy, Zoro and Nami).

The amount of people and families that were there was very cool. My favourite was how detailed many of the cosplay outfits were. I mean the commitment of some of these detailed outfits seemed straight out of the movie. Check out bonus video content of my experience here!

Pros

• Many Brilliant Cosplay Outfits
• Great Weather
• Vendors are friendly
• ATM Available

Cons

• Signage for ticket holders was not clear at the entrance. Leaving guests who bought tickets standing in the wrong line for no reason.
• The signage for photos was not clear on whether you need to pay or not.
• No places to sit down. I saw many sitting on the floor just so they could get off their feet.
• Not all vendors have signage that they are cash only so you have to ask them then return with cash.
• Not provided with an event map or a QR code that you can bring up the map. Which made it hard to know where to go.
• Lastly, there was no food area or food vendor area.
