A while ago, I used an IKEA spice rack as a TV stand. Today, I will show you an alternate way to use the same IKEA spice racks, but in a way that will create you more space and storage. When I first created this, I didn’t need much storage. I had one cable box that I needed and a small Wii device that fits off to the side.
However, for my mom’s bedroom she has a DVD player, cable box, and Wii U therefore she needs more space. The DVD wasn’t on her most important list since she doesn’t use it often so I focused on the other two. Here is the before picture, not having a TV stand made it hard to accomplish simple tasks like changing the channel. You would have to angle your hand in order for the cable box to read the remote’s commands.

I bought four spice racks for $6.99 each, left out the rod that is supposed to be in the middle then sprayed painted it with  Krylon 53523 Oxford Blue ‘Satin Touch’ Decorator Spray Paint – 12 oz. Aerosol (True Blue the gloss version). Once it was dry, I stacked them on top of each other and placed the TV on top.
Her dresser top with the new TV stand looks way better. I love the two levels. It makes the space feel airy, clean and spacious! The blue adds a good bright color to a darker surrounding.
