How to Use Instagram to Help Plan Your Wedding

Instagram is a great source to help you plan your wedding. Yes, we spend endless time scrolling through pictures. Which means that Instagram is not only popular but worthy of your time. Let’s use this time to get productive as well and take advantage of this interesting wedding tool you can use.

Research Vendors

Now I mentioned this in my youtube video – How to Build Your Dream Wedding Team with Vendors (VIDEO) that you need to utilize your Instagram account by searching for wedding vendors. See how active they are and see their live portfolio through their feed.

Most times a company will update their Instagram over their websites. You can also use the page to connect with them through DM (direct message) and scout to see if their style matches what you are looking for. This is easy permission to stalk potential prospects to build your ultimate wedding team.

To really search for local vendors, you are going to need to look them up by using hashtags such as #torontoflorist, #torontoweddingphotographer or #torontoweddingplanner.

Save Photos

Collect photos that inspire you. Whether you are trying to hire a wedding planner or planning your wedding your own way alone you’re going to need some inspiration. Many Instagram accounts have such beautiful wedding photos such as @Brides, @martha_weddings and @TheKnot that you can save to show to your vendors and photographer. This takes away the whole process of actually cutting out photos from magazines and more like pinning from Pinterest but using Instagram.

Simply press the ribbon to save and even organize your photos into categories by pressing the three line on the top right corner and pressing the “Saved” folder. Then you can create folders and really break your photo inspiration down.

Get to Know Your Style

Some of us know what we want, where we want it and how to get what we want for our weddings. This bride has thought of everything since the age of 12 or younger. Others probably don’t have the slightest clue so in this case, check out my video – How to Really Find Your Wedding Vision (VIDEO) It will help you out. It is good to know your wedding vision because it is going to be the number one question every wedding vendor is going to ask you. So it is something to really think about.

For some inspiration, you can use Pinterest or you can also check out some more Instagram accounts to get a sense of what you do and don’t like. Get some inspiration and collaborate with your fiance for some ideas.

Know Your Dislikes

As much as it is great to get to know your style and what you want, it is just as important to know your dislikes. Voice things that you don’t typically gravitate to as well as what your fiance dislikes. This way you are both on the same page when sharing what you do want for your wedding. So jot down things you absolutely know that you do not want down so that it doesn’t make it anywhere near your big day.

I love going on Instagram to get some useful advice, motivation or a good laugh.
