How often do you think about your mattress? When it’s worn or maybe when it is at the point of forgetting the year it was purchased. Well, you should not have a mattress any longer than 7- 10 years. Hopefully, by then you are in the works of finding a new one. Have you thought about the question, which mattress type are you? With all the mattresses out there, you are going to get to know your mattress style whether it is memory foam, gel, firm or plush. There is a mattress for everyone. You just have to do a few things to narrow it down.
Search Smart
There are tons of mattresses out there. Many styles, prices and brands. It can get overwhelming when having to find one that suits you. After all, we all have different styles and preferences when it comes to being comfortable in bed. So, you need to make sure that you take the time to research what mattress is right for you and your budget. Below, I have shared some of my favourite mattress brands and styles that I found on Wayfair.
Test it Out!
If you are able to, you should take a moment to test out your mattress. Even if you have bought yours online, you still have up to 30 days or so, depending on the company to try out the mattress. Personally, I believe this is one of the most important things to do. Test out your new or potential mattress before making a commitment. Press, jump, roll and lay on the mattress to see if this mattress has the comfort that you need to have a fantastic night sleep.
Once you get yourself a new mattress or still have remaining years left on your mattress, you have to answer the next question: How do you keep your mattress refreshed in the months to come?Â
Ways to Keep It Fresh
Keep your mattress fresh by sprinkling baking soda onto the mattress. Let it sit for at least 4-5 hours. It is best to let it sit for 24 hours however, it is understandable that it is not easy for everyone to do so. For extra freshness, you can add some essential oils of your choice to a container with the baking soda, shake it up and then sprinkle it onto your mattress. Then use your vacuum to remove extra powder before placing your bedsheets back on.
Another way is to spray your mattress. Here is a super easy recipe you can use: 1 cup of water (preferably distilled) + 1 cup of white vinegar + 10-20 drops of essential oils such as thieves, tea tree, lavender or lemon. Then wipe down your mattress and let it dry. Any of these options will help remove odours that may linger in your mattress and give it the fresh smell it needs.
Style it Fresh
At the end of the day we are not simply just sleeping on a mattress, so freshen it up with sheets and bedding that really speaks to your taste and style. What are your favourite bedsheets? Is it silk or cotton? Do you have a preference for colours or patterns that make you happy when you look at your bed? For my bed, I am all about the patterns and colours. I did a bedroom makeover from bedframe to bedsheets that make my bedroom feel chic. The most recent refresh that I applied to my bed was a set of bamboo sheets. It feels so silky and smooth, that I swear that I am sleeping in a luxury hotel. It doesn’t cost too much to get. I got mine from Groupon.
