If I told you that I made my wedding bouquet, would you believe me? It’s true! Today I am going to share with you exactly how to make your wedding bouquet with fake flowers look so good. It is your wedding after all and sharing what I did to create my affordable and easy-to-make wedding bouquet will do the trick to get you down the aisle in style.
My bouquet turned out even more beautiful than I have imagined and the best part is that I can keep it forever compared to traditional wedding bouquets. Want to know more about my small wedding to my high school sweetheart? Click here!
Here is how to make your wedding bouquet with fake flowers look so good:
1. Know What you Want
Knowing the style you are going for makes this project run more smoothly because you have a guide and you have inspiration. I knew that I didn’t want a traditional round bouquet and I knew that I didn’t want real flowers.
If you need to learn more about flowers, find the ones you like by reading articles or blogs, they usually tell you the types of flowers in the bouquet. Then make a list of flowers you want and pin them to your Pinterest wedding board so you don’t forget.
I originally got this inspiration from a photo on Pinterest and I was hooked! The bride that was featured on Junebug Weddings shared this photo and I couldn’t get it out of my mind. It sparked my wedding bridal flowers vision board and I couldn’t be any happier.
2. Buy Greenery
Your greenery acts as a compliment to your flowers. Some brides or florists like to sprinkle greenery within the flowers. For my wedding bouquet, I wanted it to be the background for my flowers and do something different. I bought my monstera leaves from Aforal.
3. Purchase your Flowers
Purchasing fake flowers is so fun, there are a million places you can get them but I chose Ali Express and Michaels Craft Store.
If you are choosing from Ali Express give yourself some wiggle room as depending on where you live it may take a while to arrive at your door. Also, make sure you buy from a seller with many orders and reviews. That way you are buying from a more reliable source.
Keep an eye out for Michael’s sales for flowers and premade bouquets. Every week you can either find a floral sale or an amazing coupon you can apply to your purchase. I chose to do a percentage-off sale as it ended up saving me more money in comparison to a buy one get one free deal.
4. Buy a Ribbon
You can find ribbons at Micheals Craft Store but if you’re looking to get a lot of ribbons, you can get them from Amazon. My 1/4-inch champagne satin ribbon only cost me $14.99 for a 100-yard roll and it arrived very quickly. It was the right size of what I wanted for my bouquet and looked elegant against the green stems.
5. Assemble the Bouquet
Lastly, it’s time to assemble. By far my favourite part. I started with two green monstera leaves from Aforal as my background, the peony flowers I bought from Ali Express and then added the small bouquet I bought from Michaels.
After wrapping a gold ribbon around it and hiding a small safety pin to seal it, it was done. No glue is needed however if you would like to, you can use a glue gun to secure it.
Final Thoughts
I am still amazed at how my wedding bouquet turned out. I am excited that I got to share how I made my diy wedding bouquet. It’s so beautiful and it complimented my wedding dress and wedding theme really well. It’s lightweight and can last a lifetime. Who wouldn’t want a bouquet like that? Tell me what you think, are you team wedding bouquet with fake flowers? Or team real flowers?
