It’s a well-known fact that the best source of renewable energy is solar energy. Therefore making your own solar panel is not only environment-friendly but also contributes to saving the planet earth. Let us take an insight into the steps needed to be followed to make solar panels.
How to Make Solar Panels
AMASSING THE MATERIALS:
Assembling every important thing needed to make the solar panel is the foremost step where you need to purchase the following items:
- High-quality cells- The more cells you use the more energy can be produced.
- Backing board materials- Wood, plastic and glass board.
- Tabbing wire
- Flux Pen
- Soldering iron
Step 1: Making a backing board with non-conductive material like wood followed by plastic and glass is the next step to be kept in mind.
For Step 2: Measure the board’s dimensions and connect the tabbing wires to run down and connect to the next cell present in the array.
Step 3: Take a flux pen and make 2 to 3 lines which run down to the latter side of the cells.
Then for Step 4: Take a soldering iron and place it on the back side of the cell strips to melt a thin coat of solder.
Step 5: Now is the time to bond the wire to each cell properly with the help of soldering iron.
LINKING THE CELLS TOGETHER:
Step 1: It is time to glue the cells on the back side of the board. You have to ensure that tabbing wires are left free to move and are in between the cells.
For Step 2: Now solder the cells together with the help of a soldering iron properly.
Step 3: With a wire connect the first row, then the second. And go on connecting each line by properly making a circuit. Make sure that you connect the bus wires all around until you reach the end.
BUILD THE PANEL BOX:
Step 1: Measure the size of your panel and ensure that you would need a box a little bigger than the panel.
For Step 2: Attach all the wirings and screws around the panel box to provide maximum security to your solar panel.
Step 3: Once the panel box gets finalized you may put your solar panel inside it. You have to be double-sure that it has been secured tightly. And is placed in a position where it can get maximum sunlight.
WIRE UP THE PANEL:
Step 1: This is the time when the final bus wire would need to get connected to the diode.
For Step 2: This step would involve connecting the solar panel to the charge controller and later the charge controller to the battery.
SEAL THE BOX COMPLETELY:
Step 1: Plexiglas which is immune from getting broken is used to cover the panel box. So cut it with the required dimensions. Fix it properly with a wooden block on the sides of the panel box.
For Step 2: With the help of silicon sealant it’s time to seal the edges completely.
Now your solar panel is ready to use. Mount it properly on the roof and make use of sunlight to get the electric supply.
