One of the most complicated processes of wedding planning is your wedding seating chart. So how do you make a stress-free wedding seating chart? First, you got to have your guest list sorted and if you haven’t you are going to have a little trouble figuring out where everyone is going to sit.
However, fear not, I got this killer awesome trick to get your guest list figured out in 60 seconds. Now once that is done, you can really dive into the wedding seat chart.
Sort Your Guests
I always talk about categorizing and sorting when it comes to decluttering your home but it is the same when you are creating your seating chart. There are many ways that you can create a guest list such as writing them down on a checklist or importing them into a spreadsheet.
When sorting your guests for the seating chart, you want to first start with: brides’ friends and family, groom’s friends and family then the bride and groom’s family friends. Create those columns as a great starting point for your reception tables.
Your Head Table
Start with your head table because this may by far be the largest table at your venue. You will have to decide if you want a sweetheart table which means it is for just for the bride and groom or if you want your entire bridal party to sit with you. Some couples choose to have siblings or family members to sit with you as well. The choice is all you and what you want for your reception but it is something you will want to decide on first.

Start with Easy Tables
Once you can decide where you want your head table, you can start moving the rest of your around your venue on your chart. Stick to the easy tables first, think about groups of friends that you want to be together like high school or college friends. Having those similarities or interests and characteristics alike do help decipher if those guests will click together at the table.
Also, think about family members that you think should not be seated next to each other. By placing those guests at tables ahead of time it will be easier for you to seat the rest of your guests.
VIPs (Very Important People) Seating
Now it is always best to have a talk with some of the very important people in your life and get their input on who they would like to sit next to at your wedding. It is great information to have for when you are deciding on the seating chart. It gives you the inside scoop on what will work and what will not work. Also, consider placing them near the bar, dancefloor so that they have a view of all the fun.

Kids’ Table
Another table you should think about is if you are going to have a kid’s table. Not every couple decides to have one for their wedding due to adult-only weddings.
If you are having kids at your wedding, you might want to consider seating them together. It can be great for the kids to be able to have someone their age next to them, however, for more control over who will be keeping an eye on them, you might want them to be seated with their parents and have an alternate area or table for them to do activities.

Final Thoughts
Make sure to consider the floor plan when you are deciding on the head table, VIP tables and kids table. Don’t forget to think the guests that have mobility issues and seat them with easy access to things as well as not too close to the dancefloor if noise will be an issue for them. At the end of the day by using the tips above you are in the right state to create a balance for the venue and the wellbeing of your guests. In all, you will make a stress-free wedding seating chart!
