Do you celebrate your successes? So, does success mean for you? Is it reaching financial goals, career growth or promotions? It may sound like a strange question to ask however we strive for success all the time but sometimes we forget to take a moment to celebrate it and bask in the glow for a while.
Does this sound familiar to you? Are you having trouble celebrating your successes? Maybe you are a perfectionist or you only like celebrating a big moment, regardless today I am going to help you redefine your success measure.
Acknowledge Defining Moments
It is so easy to just look at the big picture and your ultimate goal at the top of the mountain but you need to appreciate the smaller wins of each day. Life is not solely about the big moments but about the small ones as well. Give yourself a celebration glass of wine or treat yourself.
What may seem so small to you, is still a huge accomplishment because you crossed that bridge or path. If you were to tell someone in your life today about that small accomplishment they would think this is a big moment for you as well.
Look How Far You’ve Come
With a big picture in mind, I know that the struggle to be happy with your current state can be so difficult. We just want to get to the top or complete the journey. It can feel like we are going in slow motion and everything is not going the way you want it. I find myself more focused on trying to get to the finished line then remember how far I have come.
Goals are needed, don’t get me wrong but having the fact that you have overcome so much and did many things to get to where you are now is an accomplishment. So when you are feeling down about today, remember your a BOSS for all the things you accomplished yesterday, last week, last month and last year.
Remember your Turning Points
As a perfectionist, planning comes to mind so easily. It is the control and making sure everything runs smoothly as much as life allows it. If you were to tell me years ago that I would be a mom, blogger, writer and be someone who has gotten many fun and exciting opportunities in my life I would have laughed.
I think I would have more laughed if you told me I was going to be a mom because it was never in my plans, in fact, a doctor told me I would not be able to have kids. Yeah. Well, who is laughing now? But I never let it stopped me from pursuing my dreams. To be honest, blogging happened because my son came into my life and began this six-year journey of awesomeness.
Think about your accomplishments, your turning points and write them down. Stick it on your bulletin board, turn it into a framed memo on your desk. You will be amazed at all of the stuff that you checked off.
Celebrate It
Alright, so we are now on the train of remembering all the things we had to overcome, all the things that we accomplished in our lives even the small things. By thinking about these things or even writing it down, you have realized one thing. You are pretty badass! Excuse my language but it is the truth.
The more you think about these goals you concurred, how life unexpectedly turned out way better than you ever imaged and that geesh you have worked so hard to get to where you are is your victory. It is your gold medal.
Now, it is all about the celebration. What do you love doing when you celebrate something? A glass of wine or champagne? Maybe you like to give yourself a spa treatment or buy yourself something nice. I’ve been known to get myself something from Skip the Dishes from time to time. Don’t push the small moments aside anymore, embrace it for it is the yummy crumbs towards the ultimate cake.
Final Thoughts
Whatever it is that makes you feel like you’ve accomplished in your life right now, don’t forget to be proud of yourself. Yes, remember that you are awesome because of all that you have gone through, going through right now and concurred. Pay attention to it and embrace it.
Yes, we tend to focus on the big picture, the future dream and goals we are still reaching for but what your doing right this minute contributes to it so celebrate that and all the little accomplishments. After all, look how far you have come.
