You never know when guests will arrive. As much as we would like to be notified ahead of time for guests sometimes unexpected guests show up with a need of a place to rest their heads for a couple of days. It happens. So why not stay ahead of the game. Today we are talking about guest bedroom essentials in order to always look like the best guest host.
Bedding
The type of bedding and style is important. You want to make the bedroom feel welcoming with soft clean sheets and blankets. It should feel like a home away from home with a few hints of hotel life. Provide extra blankets and sheets close by. A throw blanket on the best along with some extra pillows. One pillow is never enough in my opinion.

Table Lamp
Bedside lighting should be at arms reach. In cases where everyone turns in earlier than your guests, they have the luxury of being able to have the bedside lamp on to read a book or get work done. Plus it saves the trip of having to walk to the door to turn off the light as well.
Plug Station
We all wonder the same thing when we see that our battery is low. A simple two socket wall plug is never enough. Your guests will need to plug in their phone or just about any device these days so why not provide them with an extension cord with enough space for everything they may need.
Waste Basket
Provide a wastebasket in the bedroom. Your guests may have things they want to throw out. By providing one inside of their guest space, you save them the hassle of having to go searching for a spot to put their garbage. It is helpful to have one near a desk or near the nightstand.
Water Jug
I love the idea of having a water jug on the nightstand. It adds a little more love to your guests and really shows that your thinking about them. So that when they do need a drink in the middle of the night it is right there for them. No need to go down the stairs in search in the fridge.
Full-Length Mirror
We all check out our outfits in the mirror before we go somewhere so you can bet that your guests will want to do the same thing. Have a full-length mirror in the bedroom so that your guests can check in peace.
Toiletries
Ever had that moment when you forgot your toiletries? I know I have. Instead of your guests having to go to the store to get anything they may have forgotten why not provide a small bag full of supplies. Here are a few suggestions:
- Deodorant
- Cream
- Soap
- Toothbrush
- Toothpaste
- Floss
- Feminine products
- Advil
- Bandages
- Bath Sponge
- Shower cap
Bath Towel
Leave a bath towel on the bed for when your guest arrives at least two for one person. Most people like two towels, one for their hair and the other for their body. Therefore, leave two to be safe. Also, leave two more in a closet nearby just in case.
Wall Hooks
Make sure there is a storage space to hang up items such as your bath towel. Wall Hooks are perfect for hanging up a jacket or a purse. I personally love having command strip hooks for my place because it does not damage the walls or doors.
Seating
Benches are perfect for at the end of the bed. You don’t want your guests to put their suitcase on the bed so make sure you have the space to place their bags so they can unpack easily. Ottomans are my favourite because of the extra storage you have to store extra blankets and towels.
