How to add meditation to your life? This is something I had to really think about. I kept thinking it is not for me or I am just too busy but recently I decided to add meditation to my life. It was the best decision I have ever made.

Not only am I more relaxed but my mind is calmer, able to adapt and be flexible with the day. As a mom and blogger, it can be hard to feel balanced when life can feel so hectic and unpredictable but when I meditate I feel more grounded in my day. This is why I am so excited to share why I love meditating.

Why Meditation.

If you had asked me before, I used to think meditation was just like yoga but without moving as much. Honest thought! But there are so many different styles and kinds of meditation out there.

Meditation is great to slow yourself down and slow your thoughts. Sometimes our lives and thoughts are just racing all the time and not slowing down. Meditation is great to put a pause on you. It makes you take a step back. Another way is to release stress, anger, anxiety and to help with sleep. It can also help you focus on work.

How to Start?

If you are first starting out you can really search for apps as I did. It is a great source to walk you through. I found most of mine just from a search on my Play Store because I have an Android cellphone but you can get it from the Apple store as well for all you iPhone users.

Another way is to check out YouTube and popular bloggers as well. If you want more of a step-by-step with visuals they are your best bet. If you have any you want to recommend, make sure to share them in the comments.

Favourite Meditation Apps

Since I mentioned that I used apps for meditation, I should share a secret. I have three apps that I use and that is only because I wanted to test things out and each is for different reasons and purposes.

I first started with Headspace for morning or daily meditation. I also use Calm for calming sounds such as the ocean or rain. Then for nighttime, I love using Breethe for meditation at night. These are just the ones I am currently using and trying. I haven’t yet narrowed down what I like better but I have favourites on each.

Best Time to Meditate.

The best time really depends on the person. I would recommend that you test certain times like mornings, afternoons (if you can) or nights to see what actually fits into your schedule and routine.

I personally like to meditate when I first get up or when I know I am having a particularly hard day but mostly right before bed. I take the moment to meditate for 10 minutes or less to help me sleep. I found that my sleep definitely improved once I started adding it just before I fall asleep.

Sleep Better
