We’ve all been there – the depressing winter grayness has passed, and we are left with a never-ending pile of things that need to be put back in their place. The main problem in all that is figuring out where to start and finding enough motivation for it. These tips will show you some of the possible ways you can shake off the dead weight of hibernation and feel like your old self again, only healthier.
Food and nutrition
One of the first things you hear when people talk about health is the importance of proper nutrition. But, convincing yourself to say goodbye to fast food and remain loyal to regular, high-quality meals is a tough gig. The key to making it easier is to introduce a personal, enjoyable element into those meals. And as long as you keep an open mind, the options are plentiful. Who says healthy can’t also be fun!
Springtime brings with it an abundance of fresh veggies and fruit, so get online and read more about their benefits. Decide what it is about your health that you feel like you need to improve, and what nutrients you should introduce to make that happen. Create your own delicious smoothie, search for your new favorite recipes, or even create your own. Play with your food, find out what suits your taste best, and pay more attention to what is getting into your body.
Physical strength and agility
The situation with exercising is much the same as with maintaining a healthy nutrition. You make a resolution and after two days you hit the first obstacle. That’s when you start looking back to the old days wistfully. Try learning how to lure yourself into having a more or less fixed exercise schedule.
If you like technology, download apps that will give you guidelines on how to achieve desired results. There’s also the option of combining physically demanding activities with something you truly love; for example, if you enjoy photography, grab your camera and head to the nearest mountain, forest, or river, and distract yourself from the fatigue and possible muscle pain by capturing that perfect landscape.
Tending to your skin
Let’s not forget that the largest human organ is the skin, so we are free to say that it really deserves proper care. Low winter temperatures can be extremely rough on it, making it overly dry and cracked, which can even lead to slight bleeding. With the beginning of springtime, nourish it back to its former beauty with the use of various light creams, moisturizers, face masks and lotions, which can rid you of the awfully annoying dehydration problem.
Avoiding being in the sunlight for longer periods is a part of successful skin detox. Additionally, you can apply quality non toxic sunscreen before engaging in outdoor activities. Enriched only with gentle, harmless ingredients, such as zinc oxide, the sunscreen does an excellent job of protecting your skin from the detrimental effects of UV rays, preventing sunburns or more severe damage and preserving the skin’s natural glow. Also, don’t be afraid to break a sweat – it will cleanse your pores and help your body get rid of the unwanted toxins.
Feeding the mind
It is no secret that the body and mind are interconnected. With the arrival of the new season, work on your mental health as much as you do on your body. Regulate your sleep, meditate, or take up yoga, and learn pranayama, different breathing techniques to soothe yourself. Expose yourself to the more noble values of art, surround yourself with engaging books, good music, or visit a painting exhibition in a local museum. Strengthen your friendships and relationships with the loved ones, and keep your social life rich and fulfilling. Take control of your environment by doing a great home-cleanup. Throw away anything that clutters up your rooms or stands in your way of feeling comfortable and free in your own personal space.
Most importantly – nurture creativity and stay in touch with yourself. Get to know yourself even better so you’ll know what’s best for your mental and physical wellbeing.
