Fashionista’s Packing List: The Guide to Essential Pieces

Fashionista’s Packing List: The Guide to Essential Pieces | City of Creative Dreams

For a fashionista, practicality is rarely an exciting word. Of course, you want to be neat and frugal, but sometimes it’s difficult not to go overboard as you try to state your craving for good clothes and stylish outfits. Travel itself seems like it was made to be glamorous and fun, so the idea of packing only the bare minimum seems a little uninspiring. After all, you want to show off your sense of fashion, and you can’t do that if you only have old sneakers and baggy jeans in your bag. However, even for the most luxurious of us divas, it’s possible to find a good balance. There are a few items that will not only make you look stylish as hell but will also be easy to pack. Grab your pen and start writing down these great essentials.

Flat shoes

While it’s okay to pack one pair of impractical, pretty shoes, most of the things you bring should be comfortable. This doesn’t mean they need to be boring, of course. Sexy ankle boots, leather sandals, colourful ballet flats, Oxford shoes, and even sneakers. Just look at the Puma x Fenty collection inspired by Rihanna – it’s modern, it’s sleek, and it’s pieces like these that are great for travel.

Little black dress

There are few garments that are as versatile as a simple fit-and-flare little black dress. Think of it as a blank canvass – the fact that it’s so plain works in your favour because you can use pretty much anything you like to style it. Sassy cowboy boots and a leather jacket, or maybe delicate flats and a gauzy cardigan, or maybe Oxford shoes and a blazer. Neutral basics are the most essential travel garments because you can easily match them with each other, and you can break any monotony with a few well-chosen pops of colour.

Cardigans

Cardigans, thin jackets, and generally light layers are a very good idea for travel. Three thin garments will take up less space in your suitcase than one bulky sweater, so they give you a chance to be versatile and to bring more fun clothing.

Favourite jeans

Bring that one hot pair of jeans that look good on you no matter what. It’s an easy go-to garment, and if you have a good base, all you need to add is a sparkly top and you’ll feel totally sexy and ready for an outing.

Quality cosmetics

Our skin and hair don’t always react well to changes in climate, so it’s very important to bring good cosmetics with you. A good moisturizer to nourish your face, and maybe a handy sheet mask to rehydrate your skin when you get off the place and get to your hotel room. You can also bring an organic dandruff shampoo to prevent a flaky scalp, and maybe some pimple patches to help you deal with emergency breakouts.

Versatile makeup

You might feel like this is the perfect time to experiment with new colours, but in truth, if you’re finding it hard to get out of your comfort zone at home, then it’s unlikely you’ll do it while you travel. If you love wearing makeup, bring a neutral eyeshadow palette, some BB cream, a good mascara, some blush, and your favourite lipstick. It’ll be more than enough to give you both light natural looks and polished glam for the evening.

Glam jewelry

While everything else should be at least somewhat versatile, here is where you can go all in and pick your chunky, shimmery, dramatic pieces. No need for restraint! Jewelry is easy to pack and it’s very light, so feel free to indulge and grab all the fun stuff you’ve been eager to wear. They’ll add a significant amount of glam to any outfit.

Scarf

You can fold it and use it as a pillow on the plane, you can cover your eyes if you want to take a nap, and you can simply wear it as an accessory. Tie it around your neck, your hair, or the handle of your handbag – plenty of easy styling choices!

Conclusion

Here’s one last tip before we go: try out all your garments and make sure they can all be coordinated into good outfits. Take a few selfies to see whether they photograph well, and try to pack things that won’t easily wrinkle. As long as you keep all that in mind, you’ll have a much easier time getting ready.
