The shed isn’t a particularly new idea, but in recent years, we have found significantly more uses for it than it’s original designers could have ever conceived. From creating a small relaxation zone to installing a TV for some proper gaming sessions, sheds are no longer dingy but necessary little buildings at the end of the garden, but well-loved spaces.
For a crafter, the shed is such a great opportunity. It can be filled with all kinds of crafting tools and you are totally free to express your creativity here without the fear of getting the whole house in a mess. A Place for Everything and Everything in the Shed
Crafting always takes up a lot of room and if you have a lot of small bits and pieces like beads or nails, finding the best place to store them takes some long thinking. Even in a shed, space can be quite tight so make sure that you carefully plan ahead how you are going to store everything and where.
Using a mixture of open shelves, cupboards and drawers is probably the best way to go, a bit like organising your pantry, some things will be big enough to just go on a shelf, and others will need to be separated into smaller containers. You should also think about utilizing the space under your crafting table. Unless you sit down, this is a prime area for drawers and shelves to slot under neatly, maximizing every bit of space.
Get Creative and Customize Your Space
The space you work in is key to your creativity and in your shed, you can be so much more flexible than you could ever be in your house. Since the shed is always a temporary structure, however long you anticipate it being there, it is less of a problem to paint on the walls or to pin things up all over the place. And, as you can shut your shed up and walk away at the end of the day, it doesn’t come with any tidying up obligations.
Customizing your space is a chance to be really creative with what you are doing and make it work perfectly for your current project. Feel free to get everything out and cause a little bit of chaos – this is just what your crafting shed is for!
