How to declutter your kitchen a day the best way? Today we are going to finally get to your kitchen decluttering because just like everywhere else in your home, your kitchen can start to become a handful.
This isn’t the ideal situation when all you want to do is grab a snack, cook a meal or dish out your take-out or ask mom what is for dinner. You want an effortless space to navigate through and not feel overwhelmed because the kitchen is pretty popular.
So, let’s declutter your kitchen right now. Yes, I am talking about right now because this is easy. You can do it! The kitchen is the main area that we tend to come and go the most because it is where the food is. Why not make this space feel less stressful and more useful so we can continue to build memories in this space. Â
Fridge
The fridge can get cluttered the quickest. So first, you need to clear out expired food! Yes, I am talking about the bread sitting squished in the back of your fridge and all those containers you claim still have food in them. We both know you are not going to eat it anytime soon and so getting rid of these will only help the smell of your fridge and provide well-needed space. Give your fridge a well-needed wipe-down of shelves and drawers.
For organizing your fridge you can use fridge containers/bins to keep your fruits together and a lazy Susan turntable so nothing is left lost in the back of the fridge.

Pantry
Next, let’s declutter your panty. You will also need to sort through the food that is in your pantry to see what is expired or things that you no longer want.

Cabinets
Cabinets are the worst sometimes. Am I wrong? It’s the area where containers and lids go to lost all the time. I mean where do they go? It’s one of those missing item cases that just never get solved around the house and sits along with the stack of missing sock cases.
Well, I have a solution for those containers without lids and lids without containers and that solution is that they must go!
Don’t forget to RECYCLE/DONATE:
- Random containers
- Old jars
- Extra unused coffee mugs
- Unused plates that you have collected.
Mugs are a huge issue in my home. Geesh, my mom collects mugs and I am constantly hoping one would just casual fall to its death. Dramatic I know, but it takes up so much space in our small apartment. If you have a mug collector in your home, you know what I am talking about. I would like a little space for my four mugs too.
Drawers
Can you open your drawers? If it feels like you are lost when you are trying to find the most simple thing in your kitchen drawer, then it is time to tackle it.
Tips for your kitchen drawers:
- Don’t throw all those takeout cutely, plastic forks, knives, spoons, and chopsticks into our drawers. Use up the ones you have by using them when you bring your lunch to work or else replace them with reusable ones.
- All those knives, placemats, napkins and/or tablecloths that are not being used can be donated.
Another hassle in the kitchen is plastic bags. I like to have eco-friendly bags instead, however, it is easy to forget so for my family I decided to upcycle it into an awesome pillow. It is perfect for outdoor patios.
Counters
Do you have a spot in your kitchen where you just throw everything in? Most time it’s a drawer, but it can also be one section of your counter as well. This is a spot where you throw your old recipe books, old calendars, and old plants at along with your keys. Well, everything but your keys needs to go.
Don’t forget to RECYCLE/DONATE:
- All those papers in your junk drawers have little use.
- Recycle old flyers and newspapers
- Keep only one take-out menu (or keep a digital version bookmarked on your computer)
- Recycle year-old catalogues.
- Keep all of your bills in your office cabinet.
- School information such as a field trip form or report card can also stay in your office.
- The rest of the information such be on your calendar as reminders.
- Keep instruction manuals in an organizer or recycle them since most are online.
