Hey friend, want in on how I keep my inbox at zero? Yes, I have daily inbox hacks you need to live by right now. I am serious, emails may get delivered each day, but I know my way around an inbox that would knock your socks off. Grab a drink of choice because I am spilling the tea on daily inbox hacks to live by.
Find the Time
Everyone has time whether you are going to admit it to me or not. We all have some time… we just have to find it. There are many ways you can do this. You have options like checking your email when you are in the bathroom, when you are commuting somewhere like on a subway or bus, on your lunch break or simply putting time in your calendar.
Personally, for me, I check my emails about three times per day, mornings, afternoons and evenings on my way home. Back in the day before quarantine, I know that sounds odd, but back in the day of subway rides to work I would go through my emails and delete ones I did not need. Yes, even if there is no Wi-Fi you can still access your emails depending on the platform you own, but Outlook works for me. I have sent many emails to my outbox and when I was by Wi-Fi again, my emails were sent.
Know and Go
When I open my inbox, I can see right off the back that I know what needs to go. It is all in the title and the starting sentence snippet. Especially newsletters from favourite blogs or websites that I love have to audition for me every time they send one.
I know that sounds strange, but I have a reason for my madness. As much as I love my favourite bloggers’ and site’s content, do not get me wrong, some are visually delicious and have value for days. However, realistically I know that I do not need to read every email. Only open and read what you need and what you want.
You do not have the time to sit around and scroll through every email that comes your way. It is like desserts at a buffet, you are not going to eat them all. Choose the ones that call out to you. So, the newsletters that come in are going to have to audition for your attention or they do not make it to the next round.
Create Folders and Label Them
Do not let everything sit in one folder. I do not know about you, but it is so overwhelming to see many emails sitting there. Therefore, I encourage you to make sure that you are creating folders and labelling what needs to be in this folder. For instance, utilize your folders to store important emails, this way you know where they always are.
