Cleaning Tip: Vinegar

cleaning tip: vinegar

Cleaning with vinegar is just as good as cleaning with baking soda. There is a million and one ways to used vinegar in your home but I won’t tell you a million ways I will tell where you can use vinegar in your spring cleaning this year. When I first heard about cleaning with vinegar I was on the fence about it since the smell alone is not very pleasant but I when I tried it out on a peed mattress, I was amazed at how well it worked especially since my family had tried many products to get the pee smell out. If you want to try that out for yourself check out the recipe for a natural way of removing pee.

Here are other ways you can use it.

Living Room:

  • Window Blinds – equal parts white vinegar and hot tap water
  • Carpet – 2 tablespoons white vinegar and ¼ cup salt or baking soda to make a paste. Rub it into the stain, let dry overnight then vacuum.
  • Droopy Flowers – add 2 tablespoons & 1 teaspoon of sugar to the water
  • Repair DVD – wipe it down with a soft cloth then let dry before placing in a machine.
  • Freshen Fabrics – fill a spray bottle and spray your home.

Kitchen:

  • Fridge –  half water and half vinegar wipe clean.
  • Dishwasher – Fill the rinse agent dispenser of your dishwasher.
  • Microwave – place a bowl with equal parts hot water and vinegar, place it in the microwave on high for 5 minutes then wipe clean.
  • Drain – pour one cup of baking soda, one cup of white vinegar down the drain.

Bathroom:

  • Tub & Tiles – Heat 250 millilitres in a pot. Then, spray while its warm onto a surface, let sit 15 minutes and wipe clean.
  • Sink – 1 teaspoon vinegar and 2 tablespoons salt until it is a paste, rub and wipe clean.
  • Toilet – add 125 millilitres into the bowl. Let sit 15 minutes and then flush.
  • Shower Head – soak ½ cup vinegar and 1-quart water for 15 minutes.

Bedroom:

  • Pit Stains – soak clothing in around 60 millilitres, add enough water to cover the stain and leave overnight then wash with your laundry soap.
  • Old Socks – boil 1 cup into a large pot of water, add in the stained clothes overnight then hang to dry.
