When you talk of window treatments, the first thing that comes to your mind is the cloth curtains. It is beyond doubt that cloth curtains improve the looks of the room, but it is also true that window blinds are more chic, sleek, timeless in its appeal, yet modern. Window blinds are long lasting and require less maintenance. If the expense was factored, there are a wide variety of window blinds now available that could, in fact, prove more economical than installing curtains.

Let Us Examine the Types of Window Blinds That Are Commonly Used

Roller Blinds: These blinds are cut pieces of different types of fabric, rolled onto a rod and placed horizontally on the top of the window, which can be rolled down and rolled up using either a beaded chain or a remote which is controlled by using a motor. The rod and blind can be concealed inside a cover that has appropriate aesthetic looks making the blinds unobtrusive. When unrolled, the design or color of the blind fabric will unfurl as a single piece of cloth, which if rightly chosen to blend with the theme of the room can create wonders to the overall aesthetics of the room. There are numerous materials, colors, designs, top covers, motorized, manual, and remote-control options which you can choose from.

Venetian Blinds: These blinds also unfold horizontally, but is not rolled onto a rod, however it consists of many slats hung on thin cotton or synthetic threads that pass through both sides of the slats in such a way that when slats are turned horizontally they allow sunlight to pass through and when turned vertically they completely block the sunlight. These blinds can also be completely moved up to the window top by pulling another thread which connects to the most bottom slat.

#1. Roman Blinds: These blinds work on the same principle as the Venetian blind with horizontal movement, but in place of slats there is a single cloth material which when rolled up will fold over the lower folds as the blind is raised and appears as a single stretch of cloth piece when fully unrolled.

#2. Vertical Blinds: Vertical blinds have slats that are hung vertically and move from one side of the window to the other, with one end of the slat attached to the horizontal bar on the window top and the other end hanging freely at the lower end of the window. These slats can also be used to prevent sunlight from entering through the window using beaded chains or threads from one side of the window.

#3. Panel Track Blinds: These blinds are hung vertically and slide over individual wheeled tracks to reach its open and close positions. Unlike vertical blinds, the slats of panel track blinds are broader. These blinds are most suitable for patio doors, sliding glass doors, and large picture windows, etc.

Other types of blinds that are fast catching up are S Contour Blinds, Sheer Dimout Blinds, and Cellular blinds, etc. Now you know the functioning of all window blinds available on the market so choose the best one that works best in your space.
