7 Must-Have Tips To Organize The Best Bridesmaid Proposal Box Ever

1. Choose Bridesmaids

It wouldn’t be a bridesmaid proposal box without having someone to give it to. It only took me one second to know exactly who I wanted standing next to me. My best friend from high school was a no-brainer choice for me to pick as my maid of honour, and the rest of my three best friends range from different chapters of my life from school to my first job. They are all people I talk to regularly and couldn’t imagine them not standing next to me.

Choosing bridesmaids is not easy by any means because it comes with great responsibility. In many cases, they are signing up to organize and attend events like showers and bachelorette parties. As well as supporting the bride on the big day. It is the ultimate golden ticket.

Things to think about when choosing your bridesmaids or wedding party:

  • Consider the size of your wedding party. There is no set-in-stone number that you must have at your wedding party. If you want just one person, do it! However, if you want 12, you have to remember that your fiance will have to choose that same amount as well. Too many can get really messy sometimes.
  • Once you ask, you can’t go back. Take your time when you choose your bridesmaids, give yourself at least a month or so before fully committing. If you are still undecided on one person you are considering, wait longer so you can weigh out your options. Don’t feel that you have to give all your bridesmaid proposal boxes at the same time, give when you fully know.
  • Break the rules. Feel free to not make someone one of your bridesmaids just because they made you theirs. There is no actual rule saying you have to. While we are at it, you also don’t have to put your siblings or spouse’s siblings next to you, you can find another way to include them.

2. Choose a Box

Let me start out by saying that it was love at first sight when I saw these simple and chic bridesmaid proposal boxes on Wedding Star. This large white magnetic lid box is the perfect size to hold your curated gifts. I love that it is affordable to get as it is under $20, and it comes in different styles of white and gold. Plus, you can customize and personalize it right on the website.

When it arrives, you will see that it comes flattened so you will have to build the box. It is super easy to build and all you need to do is peel the 3M adhesive backing and press it into place. For extra support, especially if you are considering mailing these boxes, I recommend adding some extra-strength glue to the corners.

Want to know what I decided on for personalizing my box? I stuck with the words “For my Bestie _____ Love, Shanice in the front of the box.

For the inside cover of the gift box, I chose to personalize two boxes with Will you be my Bridesmaid?and one box with Will you be my Maid of Honor?”

3. Select a Color Scheme or Theme

Personally, for me, my theme and scheme were very simple. I went for everyday use items with a splash of a pink and gold theme. Pink is not a part of my wedding colours, but it is the colour that my besties love and that matters most.

One of the things that I didn’t want to give are gifts that take up to much space or don’t serve a purpose. As a professional organizer, I always try to think of gifts that don’t clutter up a home.

That is a personal mission for me that isn’t a requirement but there are many ways in which you can create a scheme or theme like:

  • Colour schemes of white and gold, blush and gold, tiffany blue or colours that match your wedding,
  • Spa theme with products that help your bridesmaids to relax,
  • Food theme with snacks and acholic drinks that treat them,
  • Or a personalized theme that matches each bridesmaid’s personality or favourites
There is no right or wrong way of doing this. Make it fun and unique to you!

4. Choose What to Put in a Bridesmaid Proposal Box

Finally, it is time for my favourite part. What are you going to put in a bridesmaid proposal box? I love giving gifts for special occasions or for a just-because reason to cheer up a friend. So searching to find gifts that I think my besties would love was such a fun process. Here are the products that I put into my bridesmaid proposal box:

Women’s Personalized Satin Pajama Sleepwear Set (Personalized with the first letter of name)

Since my theme is items for everyday use, my first instinct was PJ sets. These satin PJs are the right shade of pink and style for my bridesmaids. It is a short sleeve button top that comes with shorts.

I always loved scrolling through wedding photos and seeing personalized PJs with the words bride or bridesmaids on them. However, since my wedding is a one-day occasion I wanted to simply put the first letter of their names. That way it can be used any time.

What I enjoy is that Wedding Star has these PJs in other colours like white and navy blue in case pink isn’t your thing. Also, there are many thread colours to choose from for your embroidered name or monogrammed initial as well.

Satin Eyelashes Eye Mask

These satin eye masks are so perfect for my bridesmaid proposal box. I love the black material against the gold eyelashes. It is definitely something my bridesmaids will make good use of. The inside of the mask looks exactly the same except it is white so you could choose to reverse it to match your style.

Clear Plastic Makeup Bag (Personalized with names)

Lastly, my bridesmaid proposal box wouldn’t be complete without these makeup bags. Hands down, this is my favourite item. These plastic makeup bags are sleek and chic for really any occasion. I wanted to get a bag for my bridesmaids that I thought they would use in their day-to-day life or when they travel and this bag checks all the boxes.

Of course, I decided on the black and gold to keep with my theme but they have a gold bag option as well. I made sure to add a personal touch of their names in gold because it adds a nice pop to the bag. As you may have already noticed, I love every detail of this bag from the wrist handle to the gold zipper detail.

Here are more ideas of what you can put inside your bridesmaid proposal box:

5. Details Matter

I always believe that the details in gift matters, from personalization to knowing their favourite snacks. It makes such a big impression when you are creating a bridesmaid proposal box that represents them in a way. So don’t forget to include favourite alcohol or non-alcoholic drinks, snacks and favourite colours that you know they will love.

Make it shine by adding paper filling inside or tissue paper in your box or tie the box with a bow to really show your bridesmaids that you put work into making these bridesmaid proposal boxes its very best for them. It is all in the details my friend!

6. Add a Card

The gift box may ask the most important question, but it is the words in the card that really adds the cherry on top. Your words will touch your bridesmaid’s heart just by telling them how much you appreciate their friendship. Allow the words to flow and express how you couldn’t have a wedding without them.

I made my bridesmaid proposal cards using a blank Canva template and printed them out on PPD Inkjet Gloss Printable Greeting Cards that I bought from Amazon.

Honestly, the reason why I chose to create mine instead of buying one is that I really wanted to design it myself. I think I made a great decision because the final results of the cards turned out amazing!

Need a little inspiration on what to write in your bridesmaid proposal card? Try including these:

  • A story about how you met,
  • Favourite things about them,
  • A memory that you love,
  • or why you want them next to you on your big day.

P.S… If you really want to make your bridesmaid proposal stand out, you could always do a Celebrity Shout-Out. I mean who wouldn’t love a message from a favourite celebrity. How cool would that be!

7. Deliver It

Lastly, once you are all done creating the best bridesmaid proposal box ever, it is time to deliver it. Depending on where your bridesmaids live, you may need to mail it to them. In this case, consider that the weight of the box is not too heavy as it will add to the cost of shipping. Don’t let the fact you have to mail it bring you down, you can always ask them to video chat with you as they open it.

However, nothing beats getting to deliver it to them in person. You get to see their surprised and excited reaction in real-time and bask in hugs and tears of joy together. Choose between going out to a restaurant or hanging out together at a residence when you decide to pop the question. Bask in the excitement together because today is a big day for both of you!
