Unpleasant smells are an enemy to every household. Getting rid of them and supplanting them with more pleasant smells might seems like an uphill battle, but there are steps that you can take to eliminate them. We have compiled a list of 7 tips for keeping your home not only clean but fresh all the time.
Avoid aerosols
Supermarket shelves are always full of air fresheners who are always on discount and you can buy them in bulks. This is a neat marketing trick since you do not really need this product. Moreover, the chemical concoction in them can be detrimental to your health. The scent they release is often too strong and can disturb pets or even small children. It is much wiser to create a home-made air refresher, the ideas, and recipes for which you can find online.
Make use of the washing machine
All houses have a washing machine, but it is mostly used for clothes. People are afraid that it will break down if they put something else in. In reality, there are many things that are washable, but we are not aware of it. For instance, most curtains can be cleaned this way, doing away with the need to vacuum-clean them, which is a tedious process. Essentially, anything that is not sharp, so as not to damage the drum, can be thrown in.
Make time for cleaning
Cleaning should not be a burden if you are good at time management. Make a rough cleaning schedule and try to stick to it as much as possible. This can have one day, Sunday for instance, for the overhaul of the entire house or it can be on a daily basis. You can have a small 10 to 20 minutes power-cleans each day. One day you could dust the living room, the other clean the toilet, the day after that do the kitchen cupboards etc.

Keeping everything where it belongs
Each item in your home probably has a set place. Umbrellas can be found next to the front door, the toothbrush is in the cabinets over the sink or the books are on the shelf. This is not a matter of order, but of reducing dust as well by reducing motion.
