We all have the need to feel good in our own skin, and with so many options available to us, it’s easy to get lost. This is why a lot of people ask me how to best achieve their desired effect, with minimal cost, downtime, and pain. Well, there isn’t a magic wand, but there are some things that can help us all look and feel great. Here are the most asked beauty questions and pieces of advice.
What is the perfect skincare routine?
The answer to this is literally different for every single person on the planet. You have to tailor your routine to your skin and monitor how it reacts. However, there are some general tips that everyone can follow. Firstly, I cannot stress enough how important it is to thoroughly clean your face. Every time you go to bed with makeup on, you are aging yourself and increasing the risk of break-outs. Use a makeup remover first, and then a gentle cleanser to clear out the pores. As far as products go, you want to make sure they are the right ones for your skin type (keeping in mind that your skin type can change throughout life). We’re lucky to have the new trend of bespoke products now – everything is tailored to your skin and you really get the best of the best. It’s not cheap, but once you find the perfect fit it will be worth it. And, of course, try to go natural, organic and vegan. These products work with your skin to improve it, not against it by attacking it.
When should I look for professional help?
There is a big misconception that seeking out help from a professional is “the last step” and something that you should do once you’ve used up all other options, but this makes no sense. We are here to help you and it is our job to give you the best care and results from day one. If you visit a cosmetologist when you hit a rough patch with your skin, they won’t go straight to harsh procedures – they might first tell you to change your skincare routine and recommend some products and methods to see how the skin will react. When talking about cosmetic procedures on the body, we are lucky to have so many options that have not become completely safe and routine. Many women opt for rhinoplasty, botox or a mummy makeover to feel good in their body. We have these options available, so why shouldn’t we use them to live happier lives? Of course, everything in moderation, going overboard with procedures will only cause unnatural results.
What’s the best way to remove hair?
Summer is coming and this question starts rattling around in our heads as soon as the shorts come out. And like with most things, there is no definitive answer. It all depends on your needs, skin and financial ability. Laser treatment is definitely one of the best options for long-term smoothness, but it is an investment. Alternatively, you can consider waxing. There are plenty of at-home kits, or you can visit the salon. Warm waxing is better than cold because it is more gentle and sugar waxing is even better because it is less likely to irritate the skin. But many people still go for good old shaving, which is arguably the worst one for your skin, but the most accessible option. If you are shaving, it’s important to remember to use all the products – not just the razor. Pre-care and aftercare are the keys here and if you skip on those, you will end up with bumpy, irritated skin and ingrown hairs.
Conclusion
Having the perfect skin and body isn’t imperative. But it helps us feel good, and it often has medical benefits as well. A healthy body will always look good. So taking good care of yourself – inside and out – is what will give you the best results. There are plenty more topics to discuss beauty. If you have any questions, you should ask your beauty technician or do some research on your own. Remember to stay true to yourself, because trying to achieve what someone else looks like won’t end up well – and why would you want to, anyway? You’re a beautiful individual and you should find your own look and be proud of it.
