When you’re planning a grand proposal, you’ve probably figured that this is your one and only shot of getting it right. While it’s really all about popping the big question, it’s kind of fun to catch them by surprise and give them so much more to remember the day for.

#1 Stage your first date
Think about how you first started dating and try to use some of these elements to create a perfect evening. It may be a bit tricky if you didn’t go down the traditional dating route, but you can still make it romantic by using the things you know and love. If you had your first date in a specific restaurant or cafe, it should be quite easy to set the scene.

Christmas and Halloween are coming up, so why not use the holiday he or she loves to make it extra creative? Put the question in the book they’re currently reading if your SO is a bit of a bookworm, write it in the snow outside if you know they’ve been anticipating the first signs of white forever, or turn it into a scavenger hunt if they love puzzles and exploring.
