I have been to the food truck festival before but this year was the best because I brought some of my family along with me. For those who don’t know what a food truck festival is, I can only say that it is self-explanatory. There is a line of food trucks waiting and eager to serve you. The first time I went, the location was not the best (seagulls everywhere) and the admission was too much. Plus getting food from the trucks was a lot of money as well so getting to try many trucks was next to impossible.
This year, was completely different, the location was downtown by the water, admission was free and they even included $6.00 menus. You also had the option to get a beat the line pass for $25. I bought it and unfortunately wasted my money because there was no huge line up to skip to the front of. None at all. Nada! Not even a little line. Maybe it was the time of the day we arrived but totally regret getting one. Bye bye funds.
You Gotta Eat Here!
On to more positive news, I got to try out many different trucks which are the main goal of going to the food truck festival. There was a limited selection of food trucks. I honestly thought there would be a lot more but we make do with what we had in front of us. First truck on my list was Toben. My mom particularly enjoyed it because it was the only one that had at least something that was gluten-free. Not too many trucks are gluten-free friendly so to have at least one that she could eat something from was a plus! For all you gluten-free pals, you gotta eat here. A simple snack with a delicious twist with tater-tots!

Get Stuffed
After my appetizer, I decided to get my main course from a truck called Get Stuffed. Their food truck has very cool selections such as chicken and waffle in a cone with a maple drizzle. Looks so yummy! However, I stick strictly to the $6 menu and got myself a classic slider with lettuce and mayo. It was simply delicious and hit the spot really nice. I am by no means a food critic but I have to say that the chicken was cooked so good that it felt like it melted in perfectly with the bead when I took a bite. Well done!
Eva’s Original
You can’t leave without dessert. Now everyone has been Instagramming this next truck for ages it seems. It really caught my attention and I knew for a long time that I must try this. Yet, work and life got in the way and sidetracked my goal. I wasn’t going to give up though, Eva’s Original has a wonderful take on this tasty dessert. No more crunchy cones, you have to get a taste of these! Pair it with some ice cream, fruit syrup or cookie crumbles and you have my mouth in awe! Best dessert ever!
Overall, my experience at the food truck festival was awesome. I got to try trucks that I would have not been able to and really enjoy the beautiful day with my family and little man. My tummy sure was happy when I got home and so was my wallet. I can’t wait to try out more food trucks next year.
